In HC, all you have to do is play the correct way, never play with strangers, use the correct class, stat a specific way, and play in the correct difficulty until the correct items can be found - and you'll never die. It's not completely unreasonable to find this playstyle distasteful enough to refuse to rest your faith on your abilities. Someone in HC is going to see a boss pack of stygian dolls and automatically assume it's not where it appears to be and therefore make no plan to attack it.
